BEAUTIFUL THINGS ONLY THE HEART CAN SEE | MEXICO
DISTANT PARADISE | FEATURED WORK
A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTIST
Life is an amazing journey. An absolute roller coaster at times. I felt like I was being consumed by work. I finally reached the destination I feared the most, “burnout”. It seemed like everywhere I turned someone or something was demanding my attention and I couldn’t escape it. I needed to get out, I had to find a way to disconnect without sacrificing my network and relationships.
My secret was...travel. I wasn’t so easily accessible. A weekend trip out of my normal environment and daily routine was like pressing the reset button on my life. I began to plan spontaneous trips a few times a year until it became my norm. My eyes had to see life from a different perspective. But not just see I had to connect my heart and 5 senses to the new environment and let go of anything that was holding me back.
In my case, I started to follow those principles and haven’t looked back. I began to focus on beautiful things in my environment. Trees, flowers, flowing water..etc. If you step back and take a few minutes to observe your surroundings, you'll be surprised at what you see. “Distant Paradise” is a pretty simple example to follow. The blues in the photograph seem to manage my stress. It’s a very soothing color, peaceful and helps relieve my mind. The greens allows me to connect with nature and gives me a refreshing feeling of tranquility. Both colors are very subtle but it’s enough to set my mind at rest.
I believe the heart is constantly searching for moments to connect to beautiful things. We just have to find the time to plug in.
